Is DLC worth it?

What are your views on DLC (Downloadable content)in games good ways to boost replay value, or just a stupid reason for companies to make more money on unnecessary things? Do few extra maps, maybe a new mission or few new weapons justify the cost of approx. $10

well with the next gen consoles connections to the internet, downloading expansions or upgrades were unavoidable. Now with the craze of having more add-ons to get but cost extra, so do you think that all these add-on’s and alterations deserve to be given out for free, or are the games industry justified to say if you want more out of a game you already bought pay me more. PAY ME MORE DAMNIT!

I guess DLC adds replay values to games that would've otherwise sat on your shelf to collect dust because you've already beaten it. By giving you addons and expansions, you can actually take it off the shelf and take it for a second spin. I guess the 10$ can be seen as a revival fee of a game thats around 40-50$ that would otherwise have been dead.

Yea that's true I have only paid for 1 DLC before but so far for to me it's been worth it.

1600 ms points is like $20 for "Grand Theft Auto 4 : The Lost and Damned"

The story still takes place in Liberty City, but this time you aren't playing as Niko Bellić you are Johnny Klebitz for the fans for GTA 4 you might remember Johnny as one of the people you met at Elizabeta Torres' party. Johnny's story is about his time in the biker gang The Lost, Johnny was vice president of the gang and was in charge while Billy Grey was in Jail. During that time Johnny has ran the gang smarter more worried about money and gang safety then mindless killing for turf. All that comes to a end when Billy was done his sentence and set free to take charge of the gang once more now. Billy unhappy with the way Johnny ran things broke a truce Johnny had created with a rival biker gang called the Angels of Death by starting to kill their members, which sparks a total gang war in Liberty City and Johnny is caught right in the middle of it.

oh yea, i know about the GTA4 one, the ads were everywhere. heck even comedy central had the ad. What other games have DLC so far?

Yeah Fallout 3 has a few DLCs, 3 to be exact.

First one is “Operation Anchorage” it has already been released it costs 800 Microsoft points ($10 aprox)

The story takes place alongside the main game. You can just jump into the DLC contents as you play your normal game at anytime. The story of operation anchorage is that you picked up a Brotherhood Outcast’s transmission a bunch of Brotherhood Outcasts found a secret armoury with ancient technological relics from China and USA, but they can’t get into the Vault without completing the VR simulator program, and since your character is the only one there that has a pip-boy you are the only one that can use the simulator. You will go through the simulation of the China USA war in the battle of Anchorage, Alaska.



The other DLC that is to be released this month (March 2009) is “The Pitt” and again it will cost 800 points ($10 aprox).

You continue yet again this is an expansion to the main story of fallout 3. This time the story is as you go around in the wasteland you encountered a man that was a slave that escaped from The Pitt a giant slave camp that is really the remains of the post-apocalyptic Pittsburg. You learn from the slave that in the slave camps of The Pitt someone has discovered a cure to the mutations that happen throughout the world so you decide to leave Washington D.C by train and infiltrate The Pitt as a slave. As you progress through the game you get to side with either the Slaves or the Slavers.



The final DLC for Fallout 3 is "Broken Steel" to be released in a few more months, so far the only info released about this one is that it will actually take place after then ending of Fallout 3 and how DC has changed. and as the name suggests The Brotherhood of Steel and/or The Brotherhood Outcasts will be the main focus.

As each DLC hits along side the new stories and missions they also add in New:

- Weapons
- Armour
- Items
- Perks (skill bonuses)
