CREW RECRUITING! And Marketing ideas?

We are now into the third week of Chibicat. Does anyone have any marketing ideas Let's brainstorm about ways to reach out to the public. And of course, reaching out to our own friends as well. It is -not- effective to contact random friends sending them messages telling them "join the forum and post"... We need to have a hook and something to attract people. Let's start the brainstorming.

Central Theme : What -Theme- can -all- of us work with? What's your specialty? That you have knowledge and interest?
Outreach : What -hook- can we create to attract people to come and stay?
Crew : What -additions- do we need to add to the crew? Is there anyone out there whom you know we -can- and -should- recruit?

I think some places we can advertise besides just msn or facebook would be pretty much any other social network site that any one of us visits, like Deviantart or whatever forum you guys visit on a regular basis and are a member of. I think the easiest place would be at DA, seeing how Neko already has friends there that can help him create a snowball affect.

Our central theme, I think, should be/is anime/manga. When I come here and the first thing I notice is the art banner at the top, the style reminds me of anime. First impressions for newcomers are important. Anime/manga is pretty popular anywhere, so I see no problem with that being our main theme. Sure, there will be tons of competition from other sites, but that's where our main hook comes in.

The hook, or the thing that makes us unique amongst all the other anime fan sites, are the videos and the manga. Right now, the impression I got from talking to Neko was that he wanted something similar to Screw Attack style videos, except ours will be geared towards just parodying the shit out of anything we can think of and not just video games in particular. For the manga, I have no idea yet. These things we can do on a weekly/monthly/whatever basis, so there's always something new along the way for people to keep in touch with. Whether they like what we have is another story, but we always have to take chances.

For the crew, who, exactly, is in it? Is Raes in it? cause I think Raes would be a good addition. I don't know if he's an anime fan, but enlisting his help with the videos or maybe even the manga could help with some of the needed randomness and art.

Raes, I was thinking Hopeless too, he's been here since the old chibicat and his posts on here are very passionate and detailed. Neko had the idea that the group videos should be like huge monthly projects for the entire crew while crew members get together or even individually film their own mini projects to post. Like... you all have your own shows or something. In that light, I think Hopelessloser would be great. I can completely see him with his own game-review show.

The problem is, I have no idea who is in "the crew" - Neko hasn't told me the roster. I'm sure I'm in it, but I don't know who else is in it. Right now I'm just taking a wild stab (judging by the banner at the top of the crew) by saying that HL is already is part of the crew (the big smirking guy without glasses), along with Raes (the big guy in the background)

Yeah, I agree.. HL is a bit of a magnificent bastard, fit for an AVGN style show .
